Who we are

We are a well-established public policy consultancy, specialising in the labour market, which we define broadly to include: skills and employment, qualifications and National Occupational Standards, LMI (which has also led to several wider Observatory projects), e-learning, basic skills, young people (especially the NEET group), and enterprise, often in a regeneration context, and all at policy, programme and project levels.

We are also a leading consultancy in the maritime field (see our separate website: MackinnonMaritime.info).

We provide services throughout the policy cycle, notably research and development, feasibility studies and evaluation, and some long term programme support.

What we do

We provide a wide range of consultancy services, throughout the policy cycle.

Click on the Services tab above for more information.

What we offer

  • a commitment to provide useful results and recommendations tailored to the needs of busy policy-makers and programme managers
  • high quality research (supported by a specialist data analysis company where appropriate, to allow us to focus on consultancy support)
  • a commitment to keep our own knowledge and skills up to date, so that we can offer you the best possible service
  • and - not least - real enthusiasm for ensuring that economic development works for everyone in the community.
  • We support (and, indeed, initiated!) the Code of Professional Practice of the Institution of Economic Development (www.ied.co.uk), and work to the principles set out in the Code.  Click here to download the Code: in pdf format (40 KB).
